{"id":2264,"date":"2015-02-12T23:51:04","date_gmt":"2015-02-13T04:51:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jhclaura.com\/?p=2264"},"modified":"2015-11-20T17:10:16","modified_gmt":"2015-11-20T22:10:16","slug":"research_02","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.jhclaura.com\/research_02\/","title":{"rendered":"Research_02"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For deeper\u00a0thesis research, I first looked more into\u00a0<strong>Nonsense<\/strong>, then\u00a0on the format &#8211; <strong>Helmet<\/strong>, and discovered some traces and had some thoughts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In this loud, information overloaded, rapid speedy world, people might use nonsense as a way to stand out and be noticeable, thus created this nonsense everywhere phenomenon.<\/li>\n<li>With a contrary character of hiding the face and being\u00a0conspicuous, helmet might represent the contradiction\/dynamic equilibrium between introversion and extroversion.<\/li>\n<li>Helmets could\u00a0be utilized to bring out the good old value of nonsense in current society.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Deeper into Nonsense \u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&#8212;Different kinds of nonsense\u00a0in history. <strong>Why<\/strong> did they arise? <strong>What<\/strong> are they about? What&#8217;s the nonsense\u00a0now? Nonsense used to be able to shock people, yet now it\u00a0is everywhere. What&#8217;s the <strong>impact<\/strong> of it currently\u00a0compared to in the past? Does nonsense still have <strong>value<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<h2>{ Past }<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Cubism<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1907, Picasso<\/li>\n<li>instead of depicting objects from one viewpoint, the artist <span style=\"color: #f72866;\">depicts the subject from a multitude of viewpoints<\/span><\/li>\n<li>unhistorical deductions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Dada<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>started around 1910<\/li>\n<li>thinks the logic and reason of bourgeois caused the WWI, so\u00a0express the rejection by embracing chaos and illogic<\/li>\n<li>anti-war, anti-art<\/li>\n<li>a systematic work of destruction and demoralization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Surrealism<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1920\u2019s<\/li>\n<li>resolve the previously contradictory conditions of dream and reality<\/li>\n<li>pure psychic automatism,\u00a0expressing the subconscious<\/li>\n<li>Freud&#8217;s work with free association, dream analysis, and the unconscious<\/li>\n<li>aimed to revolutionize human experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Fluxus<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1960\u2019s<\/li>\n<li>blending different artistic media and disciplines<\/li>\n<li>anti-commercialism and an anti-art sensibility<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>{ Now }<\/h2>\n<p>Frankly, I can&#8217;t define what&#8217;s the Nonsense is nowaday. But below are what I found related:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arty\u00a0Narcissism<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;&#8230;<em>pretentious, meaningless, tongue twisting nonsense spoken in some artists\u2019 statements. The culprits are mainly the conceptual artists who need to bamboozle you with an attempt at philosophical genius in order to camouflage the insignificance of the poorly executed end product.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>&#8220;The contemporary market has been subject to extreme speculation, but there is a difference between speculation and fraud. The economic downturn will moderate the speculative bubble that has seen some less deserving artists command extreme prices.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Justwalkingism<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>&#8220;A game that you just walk in.\u00a0It\u2019s not about winning, it\u2019s not about overcoming the challenges, it\u2019s not even about challenges anymore\u2026 Justwalkingism is giving you something to go through and what is important is that you actually go through it. You.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>&#8220;Justwalkingism is\u00a0an art movement, meaning that its artists express themselves on many platforms. It&#8217;s\u00a0like colouring books: the outlines are there but the finished piece is still yours to make.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Helmet\/Mask &#8211; Interconnection between Nonsense and Introversion<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Introvert vs Extrovert<\/strong> (by\u00a0Carl Jung)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introversion: an\u00a0attitude-type characterised by orientation in life through subjective psychic contents (focus on one&#8217;s inner psychic activity)<\/li>\n<li>Extraversion: an attitude type characterised by concentration of interest on the external object (the outside world)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Mask<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The existence is the clashing of introversion and extroversion<\/li>\n<li>Identify\/Mindset changing<\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0shelter \/ lense \/ armor to approach the physical world<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some notes\/thoughts after reading\u00a0<strong>The Power of Introverts in a World That Can&#8217;t Stop Talking<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We have the ability to be whomever we want &#8211;&gt;\u00a0power of free will.<\/li>\n<li>Because I consider myself as an introvert, be careful <strong>DON&#8217;T\u00a0beautify <\/strong>introversion.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Solitude<\/strong> can be a catalyst to innovation?
